This winter is going to be a very busy season for us as we prepare for Spring.  After the resounding success of the domesticated blackberries over the wild blackberries, we will be planting the area between the u-pick table grapes and the small deck near the pier on the right side as you drive into the winery with domesticated blackberries.

We are also ripping up a section of the vineyard and replanting it with new vines behind the winery building.  We haven't been happy with the growth back there so we decided to change the type grape completely. We will also be planting several rows across the lake.

We are also relocating the storage shed and will be putting up a temporary garage for the tractor to keep it out of the snow and rain during the winter.  We are also getting a blade for the tractor so the driveway can be smoothed out, the holes filled in, the weeds cleaned off, and the snow kept clear to make your entry into the winery a bit easier this winter.

Now, if only Mother Nature will cooperate a bit and keep the moisture down a bit.  We are trying to clear all twenty acres before the snows and cold weather set in but it's hard to mow when it's raining out or the ground is so wet the tractor sinks.  Rest assured though, as I said, it's going to be a busy winter, but look for quite a few changes when Spring finally arrives.

In the mean time, come on out, the wood stove is lit, it's warm and toasty inside, and we will welcome the opportunity to come in and join you in the tasting room for some good conversation as you sample some of our new wines we have to offer.

Remember, at Cellars de Santom we never charge for tastings, snacks, or sandwiches you make on the Raclette grill.  We usually have Roast Beef, Pastrami, and Chicken, ready for you.

Finally, we have some exciting news!
Cellars de Santom has gone "Green" and we would like to issue a challenge to the rest of the wineries in southern Illinois to do the same.  Instead of paper and plastic, we now give you, free of charge, a canvas wine tote when you make your next purchase.  Then, when you come back to the winery with your wine tote for all subsequent purchases, we will give you 1% off of each bottle of wine for helping us not pollute the landfiles with more plastic.
Each wine tote comes with dividers so we won't have to use paper bags to separate your wine bottles anymore.

Notice, if you will, WE ARE NOT CHARGING YOU for the wine totes.  We are giving them away FREE to our customers.  We'd like to challenge the other wineries in southern Illinois to follow our lead and help preserve the environment where we live and work.
